Rosh Hashanah

9/14/2020

“Adonai said to Moshe, ‘Tell the people of Isra’el, ‘In the seventh month, the first of the month is to be for you a day of complete rest for remembering, a holy convocation announced with blasts on the shofar. Do not do any kind of ordinary work, and bring an offering made by fire to Adonai’.” - Leviticus 23:23-25, CJB

This coming Shabbat, on the 19th, is Rosh Hashanah.  We will come together as a community to celebrate the coming of the new year, a new beginning.  We will repent for our sins before God and reaffirm his sovereignty over us.  We blast the shofar to examine our deeds, correct our ways, and return to him.  We eat apples dipped in honey to symbolize the sweetness of a new year, and round challah for the circle of life.  We celebrate God’s newness in us.   He purifies us, makes us clean and he sets us free.  On Rosh Hashanah our fates are written in the Book of Life, and on Yom Kippur we are sealed in it for another year.  May your name be written and sealed for another year.

MORE OF HIM

“He must become more important, while I become less important.” -  John 3:30, CJB

To give yourself fully over to God, means letting go of everything you are.  Who you are in Yeshua is different from anyone else.  God's call for you, is for you and no one else.  He changes you in such a way, that you don’t realize it till you look back one day and see how much you’ve changed.  He sheds us of who we are and then he makes us who he wants us to be.  In order for God to work in us, we have to put our trust and faith in him.  We hold on to so many things of unimportance.  We are never satisfied with less, so we accumulate more to make ourselves happy, but we are still never satisfied and never really content.  That changes when we begin to trust and let Yeshua into our hearts.  When we can say, “Yeshua, fill us more with you and less of us”, we begin to feel those strongholds come down.  We are no longer afraid to let go of the things inside us, and the things around us.  We are no longer trapped in the box we put ourselves in, because he sets us free.  Everything we have become and will continue to be, is because we choose to put him first.

He provides everything you need, and the rest is just fluff.  Everything you are and everything you own, belongs to him.  You’ll never know the things he can do for you until you let him in.

Be a Blessing and Be Blessed!
