“But if the people of a house or town will not welcome you or listen to you, leave it and shake its dust from your feet!” - Matthew 10:14, CJB Most of us know someone who is living a life apart from God. Our prayers for them is that they receive Yeshua into their hearts, because we are concerned for their salvation. We want them to receive all that God has to give. When we witness to them and they accept the Lord into their lives, that’s a happy moment, for us and them. Walking with the Lord is a great thing, and we want that for everyone. Unfortunately, he is not always fully received by some. We continue to witness to them, praying that what we are sharing will take root in them. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. They say they are walking with the Lord, but their actions aren’t showing it. They struggle because they don’t want to really let go of what they have. They eventually fall into their old lifestyle, abandoning Yeshua altogether. Just like with a village who won’t receive Gods word, we have to shake the dust off our feet and walk away. This is a hard thing for some to do, because they feel they’ve invested so much time, or that maybe they failed somehow. If Yeshua leads, it’s not wasted time. And we should not look at this as failing, because we have done what God has taught us to do. At some point, we need to hand them over to him, and continue to pray for their salvation. “Look out for each other’s interests and not just for your own. Let your attitude toward one another be governed by your being in union with the Messiah Yeshua:” - Philippians 2:4-5 CJB Are you someone who used to open doors for people, help a person up if they fell, help clean up or tear down after a gathering? Not many people help one another out these days since the pandemic started. While wearing masks and keeping socially distant shows we’re thinking of others, it’s also literally keeping people apart. Social graces are diminishing, because everyone is so fearful of getting Covid. God has made us a people to be social, to lend a helping hand when needed. God has made us a people to love one another regardless of what’s going on around us. We shouldn’t stop being who we are because society makes us feel we have to. Certainly we should wear our masks, wash our hands, and do anything else we need to do to protect ourselves and others. We should also still look out for the interests of others and let our attitudes be in union with Messiah Yeshua. As believers in Yeshua, we know that when we ask for Wisdom in what we need to do or how to act in any given situation, God will show us his wisdom. He would not lead us astray. And have these words, which I command you this day, be upon your heart. And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and speak of them when sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you retire, and when you arise. And you shall bind for a sign upon your hand and let them be frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and upon your gates. “ - (Sh’ma/V’Ahavta - Deut. 6:4-9, 11:13-21; Num. 15:37-41 This is one of the most important prayers in all of Judaism. It is said twice daily by Jewish people all over the world. It is a declaration of the basic principle of Jewish belief, proclaiming the absolute unity with God. This is a prayer that I believe all who follow Yeshua should pray daily. It is the foundation of our walk with God and also of how we should raise our children. We have so many people out there who are so lost, because God is not, or was not the foundation of their lives. Houses of worship should not be the only places we pray and worship. They shouldn’t be the only places we teach and learn from. His Word needs to be in our homes daily, so that when we go out into the world, we are prepared for anything the enemy throws our way. We need to teach it our children so they can grow to be God fearing adults, who are prepared for anything the enemy throws their way. So many children are not taught what it means to be in unity with God. So many adults are so busy during the week, that God’s teachings fall by the wayside. Then they go to their congregations on the weekend to get replenished. The children see this, and that is what they are learning. They learn that God only matters on the weekend. This world is a world full of chaos. God’s Word needs to be in our homes daily. Children need to learn to pray daily. When our children grow up in unity with God, then the world can be a safer place for them. “Train up a child in the way he should go; and, even when old, he will not swerve from it.” -Proverbs 22:6 Be a Blessing and Be Blessed!
