BEING OF GOOD CHARACTER

“Anyone who says, “I know him,” but isn’t obeying his commands is a liar — the truth is not in him. But if someone keeps doing what he says, then truly love for God has been brought to its goal in him. This is how we are sure that we are united with him.”- 1 John 2:4-5, CJB

What does it mean to be of good character?  I would like to think I’m a person of good character, but am I? Are you?  It’s not something I consciously think about unless the subject comes up, then I find that I’m evaluating myself. Am I a good person?  Do I treat others well?  Do I keep my promises?  Do I compromise?  Do I treat others with respect and dignity?  Am I obedient to God in the moment when He asks something of me?  We are not perfect people, but we should always be aware of how we are living for God.  These are questions we should ask ourselves every day.  Are you a person of good character?  What does an evaluation of yourself say?
