"My brothers, practice the faith of our Lord Yeshua, the glorious Messiah, without showing favoritism. Suppose a man comes into your synagogue wearing gold rings and fancy clothes, and also a poor man comes in dressed in rags. If you show more respect to the man wearing the fancy clothes and say to him, “Have this good seat here,” while to the poor man you say, “You, stand over there,” or, “Sit down on the floor by my feet,” then aren’t you creating distinctions among yourselves, and haven’t you made yourselves into judges with evil motives?” - 1 James 2:1-4 - CJB The answer is yes! Some of us have been in congregations where people will gravitate toward those who look well and dress well. It gives the impression that those are the people God favors because they have so much. If you have little, God doesn’t favor you. Truth is, God favors all who believe in Him. It’s not about outward appearance, or how much we make, it’s about our hearts. We are not put on this earth to love a chosen few, we are put here to love all; “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This doesn’t just mean the person who lives next door, it means anyone who is near us wherever we are. We are to love all, whether they are homeless or living in a mansion in the hill. Our hearts should be Gods Holy Sanctuary. We should welcome all into His Holy Sanctuary.
