SHAKING OFF THE DUST

“But if the people of a house or town will not welcome you or listen to you, leave it and shake its dust from your feet!” - Matthew 10:14, CJB
 
Most of us know someone who is living a life apart from God.  Our prayers for them is that they receive Yeshua into their hearts, because we are concerned for their salvation.  We want them to receive all that God has to give.  When we witness to them and they accept the Lord into their lives, that’s a happy moment, for us and them.  Walking with the Lord is a great thing, and we want that for everyone.  

Unfortunately, he is not always fully received by some.  We continue to witness to them, praying that what we are sharing will take root in them.  Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case.  They say they are walking with the Lord, but their actions aren’t showing it.  They struggle because they don’t want to really let go of what they have.  They eventually fall into their old lifestyle, abandoning Yeshua altogether.  Just like with a village who won’t receive Gods word, we have to shake the dust off our feet and walk away.  This is a hard thing for some to do, because they feel they’ve invested so much time, or that maybe they failed somehow.  If Yeshua leads, it’s not wasted time.  And we should not look at this as failing, because we have done what God has taught us to do.  At some point, we need to hand them over to him, and continue to pray for their salvation.
